Manor House Flipper

I have made some great progress with remaking the original rooms in UE5.
I've been using the following asset packs from Fab:

Here are some screenshots from the 2014 flythrough video and my current level for comparison. I have not done a proper lighting pass, just placed some basic point lights so you can see the level, there is also some stretched textures where I've quickly modelled something specific, this is very much an initial pass.

Entrance
The main decisions I made in the updated entrance area was to have more carved wooden pieces to replace the weird marble features I had before. I also decided to have fully wooden floor instead of the carpeted area, as this is more in keeping with the time period. I chose to have full panes of glass in the windows rather than the diamond leading and fully wallpapered walls instead of the sandy coloured brick walls.

Dining Room

I got rid of some of the doors in the dining room as I didn't feel like it made much sense having two doors between the sitting room and the dining room. I also moved the fireplace to the adjacent wall, as this made more sense contextually with where the external walls are. I feel like when I initially made this level, these are the details that I just didn't consider, e.g. the placement of fireplaces suggests where a chimney should be. I got rid of the curved roof, mostly because I was using a modular pack to recreate this but also I just really can't remember what I was trying to achieve with the curved roof and I think it just looks messy.

Library
The library was the room I had the most issues recreating. I just couldn't seem to get the scale right. I still think it looks too big, so this is something I'll revisit. I spent quite a bit of time making the book models because I think that the original books look so lazy and unrealistic, but I made 10 variants of book clusters that fit on one shelf, so I can change the layout quite easily. I'm thinking about adding a texture variant to make it look less obvious I've reused the same models as well. I modelled the upstairs balcony using the materials from one of the asset packs and I feel like it definitely looks more consistent than before.

Sitting Room

The original sitting room was probably the room I hated the most. I reused the same tilable fabric everywhere and I really disliked the ceiling so this is something I've addressed in the new version. I feel like it looks a lot cosier with the wallpaper and the wood on the walls. The scale feels more correct in the new version too. This is where the door from the dining room leads to as well so there's one less door than the old version. I'm not entirely sure why I initially added two doors on the same wall leading to the same room, but I have fixed this now.

It was very easy to recreate my rooms with the asset packs and figure out a better scale. I already prefer my newer version of this level and I can see it progressing to an actual game now.
